# TextPort

> TextPort is an iPhone and iPad app that exports text message conversations from any messaging app — iMessage, SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, Telegram, Signal, and more — into PDF, CSV, or plain text files. It works directly on the phone by transcribing screen recordings and screenshots of chats, and it reads WhatsApp's native "Export chat" files (.txt or .zip) directly, so no computer, USB cable, or iPhone backup is required. A companion desktop app for Mac and Windows handles bulk exports of all messages at once.

Key facts:

- Works with any messaging app on iPhone or iPad: if a conversation can be screenshotted or screen-recorded, TextPort can export it. This includes apps that desktop backup tools cannot reach, such as Instagram DMs, Signal, Telegram, WeChat, LINE, Viber, and Snapchat.
- WhatsApp chats have a direct import path: WhatsApp's built-in "Export chat" produces a .txt file (or a .zip with media). Sharing that file to TextPort from the iOS share sheet rebuilds the conversation with sender names and timestamps and converts it to a formatted, court-ready PDF, CSV, or TXT. No screen recording is needed for WhatsApp.
- Exports preserve sender names and timestamps and are formatted as paginated, print-ready documents. Common uses: court filings, custody cases, harassment documentation, landlord disputes, workplace situations, and personal records.
- No export limits: any number of conversations and messages can be exported.
- Free to download with 3 free conversation imports. Exporting requires an in-app subscription (weekly, monthly, or annual; current pricing is shown in the app). The desktop companion app has no separate purchase.
- TextPort is a software tool only. It is not a law firm, lawyer, legal service, certified court reporter, e-discovery provider, or forensic imaging service, and it does not produce certified or authenticated transcripts.
