In the chat app:

Then import them with Import Screenshots in TextPort.

Open the chat

Open the app the chat is in. Scroll to the first message you need.

Close the keyboard first. It hides messages.
Show the times

In Messages, drag any bubble to the left. In other apps, tap a message to show its time.
Take a screenshot

Press the side button and the volume up button at the same time. Let go fast. On an iPhone with a Home button, press the side button and Home.

On iOS 26 and later, turn off Full-Screen Previews in Settings › General › Screen Capture. It makes each shot faster.
Scroll to the next messages

Swipe up slowly. Stop when the last message you saw is at the top.
Take the next screenshot

Wait until the screen stops moving. Then take it.
Repeat to the end

Scroll, then take a screenshot. Do it until you reach the end of the chat.
Check your screenshots

Open Photos. Each one should be sharp and not cut off. Take any blurry ones again.

You have screenshots that overlap, show the times, and go in order. TextPort can read them.
