Does TextPort record my whole screen?

Only while you scroll. You start and stop it. The video stays on your phone. TextPort sends frames to its server to read the text, then removes them.

The Start Broadcast sheet does not show TextPort.

Scroll the list in the sheet. If it is still missing, restart your iPhone and try again.

Up to 15 minutes. The recorder stops on its own at that point and tells you. Split a longer chat into two recordings and import each one.

You will get a saved chat in TextPort by recording your screen while you scroll.

Scroll Capture is the fastest way to import a long chat from any app. You record your screen while you scroll. TextPort does the rest.

Tap Add Chat

Open TextPort. Tap Add Chat at the bottom.

Pick the app

Tap the app name at the top. Pick the app the chat is in, like Messages (1) or Instagram. Do not pick WhatsApp (2) here. WhatsApp has its own import.

Tap the first card

It says Import with Scroll Capture for Messages. For other apps it says On Your iPhone. Tap it.

Tap Start Screen Recording

Make sure the Scroll Capture tab is selected. Tap the blue Start Screen Recording button.

Tap Start Broadcast

A small iOS sheet appears. Make sure TextPort is selected. Tap Start Broadcast. A countdown runs. Your screen is now recording.

Open the chat

Go to the chat app. Open the chat. Scroll to where you want to start.

Scroll slowly

Scroll through the chat. Keep each message on screen for about one second. Do not rush.

Stop the recording

Go back to TextPort. Tap Stop Recording. Or tap the red bar at the top of the screen.

Trim the video

Drag the yellow handles so the video starts and ends on the chat. Tap Start Processing.

Wait

TextPort reads the text in the video. A long chat can take a few minutes. You can leave the app.

Open your chat

The chat shows up in Saved Chats. Tap it to read it.

Your chat is saved as real text. You can search it, fix it, and export it.

Scroll down through the chat, from oldest to newest. That gives the best result.
The recorder stops by itself after 15 minutes. For a longer chat, make two recordings.
If you stop early, TextPort keeps the video. You will see Unfinished recording in Saved Chats. Tap Continue to finish it later.
Already have a screen recording in Photos? Long press Start Screen Recording to pick it instead of recording.
