TextPort has four ways to get a chat in. Pick by the app the chat is in, and by how long the chat is.

Tap Add Chat

Open TextPort. Tap the blue Add Chat button at the bottom.

Pick the app your chat is in

Tap the app name at the top of the sheet. A list of apps opens. Pick the one your chat is in, like Messages (1) or WhatsApp (2).

Pick a way to import

The sheet now shows the ways that work for that app. For Messages, tap Import with Scroll Capture (1) or Import from Messages (2). For WhatsApp you see Import from WhatsApp. For other apps the first card says On Your iPhone.

Import from Messages is the fastest way for iMessage and SMS. It gets every message word for word.
Import with Scroll Capture works for any app. You record your screen or take screenshots. TextPort reads the text.
Import from WhatsApp uses WhatsApp's own export. It keeps photos too.
Continue on Mac or Windows is for very long chats and all attachments. It needs a computer.
