The TextPort recorder is built into iOS screen recording. You start it once. Then you scroll. Then you stop.

Open Scroll Capture

Tap Add Chat. Pick the app. For Messages, tap Import with Scroll Capture. For any other app, tap On Your iPhone. Want to record a WhatsApp chat anyway? Pick Other as the app. The WhatsApp choice only offers its own file import.

Tap Start Screen Recording

It is the big blue button at the bottom.

Tap Start Broadcast

An iOS sheet slides up. TextPort should be selected. Tap Start Broadcast. A three second countdown runs.

See the red bar

The time at the top of your screen turns red. That means recording is on.

Open the chat

Go to the chat app. Open the chat. Scroll to where you want to start.

Scroll slowly

Scroll down through the chat. Keep each message on screen for about one second.

Watch the 15 minute limit

The recorder stops on its own after 15 minutes. It does not keep going. If the chat is longer, stop before the limit, import that part, then start a new recording for the rest.

Stop the recording

Tap the red time at the top. Tap Stop. Or go back to TextPort and tap Stop Recording.

Trim and process

TextPort opens the video. Drag the yellow handles to trim. Tap Start Processing.

Your recording is being read. The chat shows up in Saved Chats when it is done.

Recording captures your whole screen. Close other apps and notifications before you start.
Recorded but did not finish the trim step? Open TextPort. You will see Unfinished recording at the top. Tap Continue to trim and process it.
