I do not see Edit Message in the menu.

Editing is only for chats made from screenshots or Scroll Capture. Chats from the Messages Shortcut or WhatsApp are exact copies and do not need it.

Not with one tap. Long press the message and edit it back.

Why did TextPort get a word wrong?

It reads the words from the picture. Blurry text, small text, and dark mode make mistakes more likely. See the guide on good screenshots.

You will fix any message that TextPort read wrong from a screenshot or recording.

TextPort reads the words in your screenshots. It is very good, but not perfect. Every message can be fixed with a long press.

Open the chat

Tap the chat in Saved Chats. Scroll to the message that is wrong.

Long press the message

Press and hold the message bubble for one second. A menu appears.

Fix the words

Tap Edit Message (1). Change the text. Tap the blue checkmark to save.

Fix the date or time

Long press again. Tap Edit Timestamp (2). Pick the day (1). Tap the time (2) to change it. Tap the checkmark (3).

Fix who sent it

Long press again. In a one-to-one chat, tap Mark as Outgoing to move a message to your side, or Mark as Incoming to move it back. In a group chat, tap Change Sender and pick the right name.

Delete a message

Long press again. Tap Delete (3). This removes a repeated or wrong message.

Get a missing message back

TextPort can not add a new message by hand. Retake the screenshot that has the gap. Make it overlap the ones before and after. Then import the chat again.

The chat now says what the real chat said. Exports use the fixed text.

Every year is wrong? Tap the three dots at the bottom, then Edit Messages, then Bulk Edit Timestamps. Shift all years at once.
Many messages missing? Retake the screenshots with more overlap. Import them as a new chat.
For court, fix only names, dates, and times. Do not change what people said.
